Cammell Laird is one of the most famous names in British industry. Cammell Laird was founded in 1828 and is based on the River Mersey in the Liverpool City Region. The company’s Birkenhead site is situated at the centre of a marine and engineering cluster and is a world leader specialising in military ship refit, commercial ship repair, upgrade and conversion and shipbuilding.

Engineer Clive Cooke produces the installation specifications for a ship coming in for maintenance and service, and to him it is important that the technical information provided by DESMI and other suppliers are delivered in due time.

Cammell Laird called during Christmas as they needed a quick Emergency Fire Pump repair. DESMI got onboard RFA ‘Fort Victoria’ immediately and the following e-mail from Ship Manager Tony Byrne at Cammell Laird was received afterwards:

We were potentially facing a show stopper when the Fire pump would not run, but thanks to your help we are back on schedule and the pump passed classification inspection yesterday. It was a vital service we received at a time most companies are shut down, this will always be remembered in future contracts.
